LAKESHORE CONDO RENOVATION
Chicago, IL
2,000 sf, 2 bed, 2.5 bath
Interior Architecture
This condominium is located in a mid-century high-rise on Lake Shore Drive and needed a total renovation. Program requirements included open-plan living, contemporary kitchen, two bedrooms, and media room.
In our design, the kitchen, dining, and living spaces flow together, connected by a sunken living room accessed by wrap-around steps. A window wall overlooks Lake Michigan and floods the home with light. Original oak herringbone flooring was restored and extended through the home to unify the space.

A unique design element was the extensive use of single-source walnut veneer from a supplier to Bentley Motors. Floor-to-ceiling kitchen cabinets have bookmatched veneer. A custom credenza in the dining room and floating vanity in the powder room are fabricated from the same walnut.
The media room doubles as work space and features floating shelves with integrated lighting and a custom desk with knife-edge pencil drawers.

The kitchen has custom white lacquer cabinets and a slab marble feature wall. Stepped ceiling details define the space and conceal mechanicals and a hood over the cooktop. Lighting is integrated into ceiling planes, including a knife-edge cove between kitchen and dining area.
