TERRAZZA MINIMALISTA

This penthouse offers unobstructed views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline. Our clients, frequent visitors to the Amalfi Coast, wanted to recreate a Mediterranean lifestyle in their city home by introducing an Italian minimalist aesthetic to their terrace. Program requirements included space for large dinners and parties, a bocce court, and a fully-equipped outdoor kitchen.

 

The design is centered around a steel dining pergola with an adjacent 18-ft linear water feature. A stainless steel outdoor kitchen is situated to the south, and to the north is a lounge and bocce court/putting green that provides entertainment for all ages.

 

A material palette defined by diverse shades and textures of white unifies the space and contrasts with the water and sky to evoke a relaxed Mediterranean vibe. Integrated lighting in the lounge and perimeter wall creates an artful evening scene. A custom glass guardrail blocks prevailing winds to maintain a calm environment.
