Overlooking the Fox River, this home quietly attracts attention while harmonizing with the landscape. The clients wanted a contemporary residence that fosters family togetherness and active living in this sportsman’s paradise. The project brief included a music room, a lap pool, and a fireman’s pole from the second floor to the first.
The front elevation, composed of layered planes of concrete, cedar, and porcelain, has a warm modern aesthetic. Two stacked rectangular volumes define the living spaces, intersected by a double-height entry space that anchors the structure and floods the interior with natural light.
Inside, the design balances prospect and refuge. The kitchen is separated from the library by a two-sided fireplace and custom pivot doors fabricated from steel and smoked glass. A glass wall system integrates interior and exterior spaces, providing every room with expansive views of the river. A full-length terrace on the second level offers outdoor access from each bedroom.
